About the Journal

Water and Sustainability is a new international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing research at the intersection of natural water systems and sustainability. The journal provides a platform for innovative research that advances understanding of water resources, aquatic ecosystems, and environmental processes while addressing global challenges of water security and ecosystem resilience.

Aims

The journal publishes high-quality original research and synthesis studies that advance understanding of sustainable water systems and their responses to global environmental change.

Scope

• Water resources, hydrology, and watershed processes

• Water quality, pollution, and environmental processes

• Aquatic ecology, biogeochemistry, and ecosystem functioning

• Watershed and aquatic ecosystem management and restoration

• Water–energy interactions and their sustainability implications

• Water sustainability in the context of climate change and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Research may focus on diverse aquatic environments including lakes, reservoirs, rivers, wetlands, and watersheds, and may involve interdisciplinary approaches spanning environmental science, ecology, hydrology, and environmental engineering.

Editorial Vision

Water and Sustainability prioritizes scientific rigor, conceptual clarity, and interdisciplinary integration. The journal aims to provide a forum for forward-looking research that bridges disciplinary boundaries and contributes to both scientific progress and practical solutions for global water sustainability.

A distinctive feature of the journal is its focus on the water–sustainability nexus, highlighting the connections among water resources, environmental quality, ecosystem health, and societal development.
