As the carrier of nutrient salts and material circulating center in water body, organic assembly plays an important role in the circulating process of nutrient salts in lake water body. Lake eutrophication and the outbreak of cyanobacterial bloom are critical environmental problems that China is faced with. As a result, research on organic assembly of eutrophication lakes and the composition,spatial-temporal pattern and impact factors of adhesive bacteria is of great importance in understanding the transformation of lake nutrients and the outbreak of cyanobacterial bloom.
With the fund aided by the Natural Science Foundation of China applied by research fellow Gao Guang, Doctor Tang Xiangming and Master Chao Jianying in our institute explore the size, richness, morphostructure and physicochemical property on organic assembly in Taihu Lake, measure the composition, temporal-spatial changes of the adhesive bacteria and their relations with the environmental factors and discuss the ecological function of organic assembly in the circulation of nutrient salts. The research result leads a better understanding of circulating process of nutrient salts in organic assembly. At present, the relevant international researches mainly focus on ocean and deep lakes with no research report involving circulation of phosphorus. Such large scale research on organic assembly in shallow water eutrophic lake has never been seen internationally, whose research result fills the gap of research on organic assembly in lakes in China, some of which will be published on Microbial Ecology, an internationally authorized magazine on fresh water and oceanography.
