Journal of Lake Science was jointly commenced by the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the China Society of Oceanology and Limnology in 1989, and it mainly reports the latest research result of the changes of lakes (including reservoirs)and their watershed in resources, ecosystems and environment under the interaction of human beings and the nature, and has theoretical or applied research papers, briefings and summaries of lake science related to disciplines(such as physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, geology, geography, etc.), lake projects, integrated watershed management, etc. published.
Journal of Lake Science 2006 is changed to bimonthly, published by the Scientific Publishing House on the sixth date of January/March/May/July/September / November.

According to statistics and analysis results of 2007 China Science and Technology announced published by China Science and Technology Information Institute in December 2008, the impact factor of Journal of Lake Science in 2007 is 1.242, ranking at the No. 78 national science and technology periodicals; and in 2007, Journal of Lake Science has a total of 1080 citation times, increased by 26% compared with 2006 (857 times). In addition, according to the latest statistics (December 2008) of Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), the impact factor of Journal of Lake Science in 2007 reached 0.9634, ranking at No. 53 national science and technology journals.
No manuscript processing fee is collected for Journal of Lake Science.
