Located at the northern bank of Fuxian Lake in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, the research station serves as a platform for long-term field observation, with emphasis on the lake formation and evolution, the lake environment evolution and the lake resource utilization and protection with aim to disclose the lake ecosystem structure and dynamics, and the lake evolution and and its response to human activities, and to explore potential ways for lake environment protection and sustainable development.

With nine plateau lakes in Yunnan Province as objects, the researchers in this station have made a series of observations and experiments of lake ecological restoration and lake environment protection, which are strong technical support for lake protection.
