From April 25 to May 2, for the topic of “Establishment of Significant River and Lake Monitoring Station”, the research team of lake and wetland ecology led by Chen Yuwei, together with Professor from Austrian Academy of Sciences and some researchers from Xuzhou University of Technology, firstly carried out the ecological inspection of Huanghe Midstream rivers and wetlands, including rivers from that below Hukou waterfalls to Huanyuankou River of Zhengzhou, which was 2,000km in total. Water samples and mud samples were taken from the midstream area of Huanghe including main river below Hukou waterfalls, Yumen wetland of Hejin, Fenglingdu wetland, Sanmenxia water reservoir, Nancun wetland, Xiaolangdi hydro junction and Huayuanklou wetland of Zhengzhou for the site analysis of nutritive salt, advantageous plant plankton and its amount,. Chlorophyll a and bottom sediment of the wetland. In addition, the group also inspected part of Huanghe braches according to the actual situation and made the ecological achievements for the relative system. It is primarily shown from the results that the water environment of the midstream rivers and wetland of Huanghe is extremely uneven. The pollution at the riverside is severe. The two main stream water reservoirs (Sanmenxia and Xiaolangdi) are able to reduce the content of mud and sand of some rivers while the self-purifying ability of the rivers is impacted. The issue of water and soil loss is still severe. This inspection is a development of the Running Water Limnology that is quite weak in the domestic research. The relevant measurement materials, after being analyzed in depth and studied by comparing to the historic remote sensing images, will be contributed to the international SCI magazine of the wetland ecology field.
