Prof. Zhang Ganlin, the Director of Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGLAS).
In 1987, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Huazhong Agricultural University. In 1993, he obtained a Ph.D. in science from Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSCAS). In 2001, he was promoted to the professor and doctoral supervisor of ISSCAS. From June 2011 to March 2014, he served as the executive deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Soil & Sustainable Agriculture; from March 2014 to November 2015, he served as the deputy director of ISSCAS, and the executive deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Soil & Sustainable Agriculture; from December 2015 to April 2018, he served as the deputy director of ISSCAS, and the director of the State Key Laboratory of Soil & Sustainable Agriculture; from May 2018 to present, he has been serving as the director of the State Key Laboratory of Soil & Sustainable Agriculture; from May 2019, he has been serving as the director of NIGLAS.
He has long been engaged in soil geography research. He has published more than 300 papers on soil genesis, soil classification, soil mapping, soil resource information system & evaluation, urban soil, etc., of which more than 140 are SCI papers. And he has served as the editor-in-chief of Soil Series of China (30 volumes). He is the winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and in the first batch of “Young and Middle-aged Science & Technology Leading Talents” of Jiangsu “333” Project. He has been granted the special government allowance from the State Council. He is the recipient of 1 second prize in National Natural Science Award and 5 provincial and ministerial science & technology awards.

Prof. GU Xiaohong, Deputy Director-General. He also acts as the Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
He graduated from Jinling Institute of Technology (formerly Nanjing Agricultural College) in 1987 and received a Master’s Degree in physical geography in Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1998. In 2006, he received a doctorate of science in Nanjing University. He was promoted to associate professor in 1999 and was promoted to professor in 2005. In 1997, he served as the executive deputy chief and the chief of the East Taihu Lake Water Agricultural Experiment Station, Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2001, he acted as the deputy chief of the Taihu Lake Ecosystem Research Station of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2005, he was appointed as director of the CPC Committee Office of Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2007, he acted as the director of the Science & Technology Department of Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In July 2009, he was appointed as the vice president of Nanjing Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was funded by UNESCO and JSPS to have further study and conduct cooperative research in the Limnology Institute of Austrian Academy of Sciences, Shimane University of Japan and AKRON University of the United States.
He has been engaged in research on the lake ecology. He successively participated in and undertook the national 973 project, the National Support Program, the Directivity Innovation Project of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Natural Science Foundation, and Jiangsu Province Key Fund and other topics and did a great deal of work for low-humidity saline-alkali depression comprehensive treatment, fisheries and environment, fishery resources utilization and lake ecosystem restoration, etc. He published more than 70 papers, prepared and wrote four monographs, and applied for and acquired several patents approved. He won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress award, the first prize of Shangdong scientific and technological progress award, the second prize of Shandong scientific and technological progress award, the first prize of Jiangsu Province outstanding soft science award, the second prize of Jiangsu Province fishery innovation award and other several awards. Furthermore, he was awarded China Industry-University-Research Collaboration Promotion Award of 2013, Jiangsu Province Young Expert with Outstanding Contribution, the Young Science and Technology Leader of Jiangsu Province "333 High-level Talent Training Project", the Outstanding Young Scientist of Jiangsu Province, the Advanced Individual of the Collaboration Award of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Local Government or Authority and other several honorary titles.

Prof. DUAN Xuejun, deputy Director-General of Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In 1994, he graduated from Chengdu University of Technology and received a bachelor’s degree. In 1997, he graduated from China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and received a master's degree. In 2000, he graduated from Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and received a doctorate. In 2000~2002, he made post-doctoral research in Nanjing University. In 2002-2003, he acted as a senior visiting scholar in University of Stuttgart in Germany. In 2002, he joined in Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the same year, he was promoted to an associate professor. In 2005, he was appointed as the secretary of the river basin information Party branch. He was promoted to a professor in 2009 and served as the deputy director (managing the general work) of the Science & Technology Department. In 2010, he acted as the director of the Science & Technology Department. In 2012, he served as the assistant of the Institute director and the director of the Science & Technology Department.
He has been engaged in research on man-land relationship and regional sustainable development. His main research fields include regional exploitation and sustainable development, modern economic geography and regional science. He has been engaged in the study of spatial processes, mechanism and effect of regional development for a long time. On the basis of typical growth pole theory, he researched the concept, characteristics, function, composition and connection of polarized area, inspected the spatial significance of the key elements for the location selection, condensed the partition factor system of spatial development suitability of different spatial scales and studied spatial agglomeration and diffusion processes of regional elements, such as the industry, land and population, and its environmental effect quantitative simulation method. He successively won the Outstanding Achievement Award of the National Development and Reform Commission, the first prize of the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Ministry of Transportation, the second prize of the Science and Technology Award of the Ministry of Land and Resources, the third prize of Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Progress Award and Jiangsu Province Youth Geography Science and Technology Award, etc. He co-wrote six monographs and published more than 80 academic papers in English and Chinese.

WANG Weizuo, deputy secretary of Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In July 1990, he graduated from Lanzhou Jiaotong University (formerly Lanzhou Railway University). From July 1990 to April 2004, he worked in the Changchun Railway Branch. During this period, he acted as an engineer with the Planning Division, the director of the Technology Office of Changchun Locomotive Depot and the director of the Labor and Personnel Office. In April 2004, he served as the deputy director of the General Office of Beijing Party Committee, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Later, he successively acted as the deputy director of the Propaganda and Education Division of Beijing Party Committee (Beijing Branch) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the deputy director of the Real Estate Management Center, the director of Science and Technology Collaboration Division, the director of the Supervisory Audit Division and the office director of Beijing Discipline Inspection Commission.
