This workshop will encompass seminars on the following topics: water environmental monitoring of lake and basin, ecological management, and global change with the purpose of supporting capacity building in Lake Tanganyika and Nile river riparian countries (Tanzania, D.R.Congo, Burundi, Zambia, Kenya, Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Malawi and Mozambique). The workshop is oriented toward early-career scientists and policy-makers, providing them with an integrated framework on water monitoring technology and ecological management of lake and watershed against the background of global climate change. It will consist of lectures, discussions and group work.

Who should apply?
Researchers and policy-makers working in the field of environmental protection, ecological management, land planning or global environmental change, from either a scientific or a political perspective, are encouraged to apply. The organizers are interested in working with Africa regional professionals who have conducted studies, developed projects, or have otherwise been involved in an activity that deals with the workshop themes from a local perspective.
● for researchers:
The participants should come from the institutes or universities in the focused African countries, academic degree of Master or Doctor; the participants who are less than 45 years old will be given priority.
● for policy-makers:
The participants should work in the departments of water affairs, environment, land use, planning and other department directly related to ecological conservation in the focused African countries; university degree.
The Number of participants
Proposed number of participants is about twenty.

After the application is approved by the organizers, the participants will be provided funding with the round-trip international air ticket, accommodation and full catering during the course of the workshop in China. Logistic support will be provided including travel arrangements and visa procedure.
